Sastra tutur di Sumatera Selatan diekspresikan dalam berbagai bentuk dengan nama khusus sesuai dengan tradisi daerah masing masing. Ada bermacam-macam sastra tutur di Sumatera Selatan antara lain Njang Panjang dan Bujang Jelihim yang berkembang di daerah Ogan Komering Ulu, Jelihiman di Ogan Ilir, Senjang di Musi Banyuasin, terdapat Geguritan, Betadur, dan Tangis Ayam yang berkembang di Lahat, Nyanyian Panjang dan Bujang Jemaran terdapat di Ogan Komering Ilir. Meskipun memiliki nama-nama yang berbeda, pada dasarnya tradisi sastra tutur merupakan satu kesatuan yang berakar dari nenek moyang masyarakat Sumatera Selatan.
